Frequently Asked Questions
I am a general psychologist who combines over 20 years of experience in complementary medicine and counselling with a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours & Counselling Major) and Masters of Organisational Psychology.
You don’t need a referral but check with your health fund to ensure you are covered for psychology sessions.
I have a missed appointment policy. I charge 50% of the session cost if you fail to attend or cancel less than 24 hours before the appointment.
I set aside that appointment time for you. Unlike a GP, I don’t have other clients in a waiting room that I can see. Some other professionals can fill that time with other billable work, however, this is not possible in my practice.
I try our best to book another client in your place if given sufficient notice however if given little or no notice, I am unable to do this.
Personal information will remain confidential and be secure except when it is required for the following reasons:
1. It is subpoenaed by a court
2. Failure to disclose information would place you or another person at risk of harm
3. You’ve granted approval for a written report or specific information to be shared with:
a) another professional agency (e.g. GP or Lawyer); or
b) a particular person (e.g., a partner, parent or employer); or
c) a health professional.
You first appointment with me (55 minutes) is a counselling session and involves a holistic and comprehensive assessment where:
We discuss your goals for coaching and your presenting concern;
A tentative coaching plan is developed, including the recommended approach to support the coaching outcome;
You’re provided with initial strategies and coaching suggestions to start working on.
Often people have six to 10 sessions. Some people find they have a few close together, then have a few more a month or two later. Some people enjoy the benefits of having regular and more long-term support from a coach.
55 minutes. If you’d like a longer appointment, please book two sessions.
